ReplyDelete2. Well, there is numerous reasons. I will list a few I have in mind. 1. He was born in America. 2. He was the third president which also meant he put a lot of work in for America. 3. He was generally a nice person I'm assuming.
3. Of course I do to an extent, a lot of people do I would assume. If they didn't, it would be a riot. We need some sort of party which will keep things in line. They are a big part of that.
4. Hmm, I'm not totally sure. I didn't really get to understand his character enough before he died to predict such a thing. I don't think he would think much of it though, as I don't think he would start an argument over such a thing. I'm hoping he cared enough about others to be calm about it. Other than that I can't say too much because his character is still somewhat of a mystery to me.

ReplyDelete2. The people in the future should be as happy as the people of that time. The happiness of all people is very important. Happy people are better people, the people that are angry with the world or are always mad about something should be happy.
3. Yes and No, because the government is very important for the country. But people should be able to take care of themselves. Yes the government helps keep us safe and protects us, but we can also do that ourselves. If we have the skills to survive when the country is in hard times, then we have the skills to survive without the government protecting us.
4. Life would think that this quote was not a true statement. Because he cares about the time now not the future. He is a very here and now person. He cares for his family and the tavern, not the war or anything else. He doesn't want to have to deal with the worries of the other issues going on. Since he is a loyalist he is loyal to King George. Unlike Sam who is a patriot that is fighting in the war.

ReplyDelete2. Jefferson would be concerned about the happiness of Americans because the government in his time was probably bad. If his time was bad he would predict that it be other for betters because he wouldn't want us to live the way he did. If he did want us to live like him, he would want us to live even better. The government in his time probably did waste their labor away and their work meant nothing and he wishes that ours does.
3. I do not want the government to take care of me because the economy in the United States is going down hill with the way we are working now. Maybe if our country tried a new form of government, then maybe the economy wouldn't be so bad. More people could possibly have jobs, more money, more homes, or even something to make their lives better. if that happened then, yes, maybe I would trust them to take care of me.
4. Tim's father, Life, would probably be unhappy or disagree with this quote. Life was a loyalist and he thinks as the government as his protector. Life would believe in the government to do better and improve. He would have high hopes of things getting better and wouldn't change his mind. He is a man thats sticks to his word, and if he believes that his country / colony can do better than thats what he stays to.
1. Matt Pankow MW2 11-29-2011
ReplyDelete2. He would be concerned because he was our founding father and would care about our future. He was the one who drafted the decoration of independence and wants up to remain free. The happiness of americans is important to him because he wants up to be happy and safe and free.
3. I would like the government to take care of me because without them what would the USA be without a structure? The governor should be the one taking care of there state or country and should care about every single person who has decide to step foot onto there state or country. Without the people what would the government do, would they fall apart or would they stay strong. I would hope the government would care about me and everyone they care about.
4. Tims father would think that it is not important to worry about the future you should worry about right now, about the war not are countries future. Will we survive? Will we win the war? I do think he will have a sense of the future for his son but he just wants to get through this time now and worry about the future later. I think Tim's father thinks that it is not true until it proves its self to the people that we will be free in the future and not stuck under a government. Without happiness who would we be.

ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson would be concerned about the future happiness of Americans because he cares deeply about other people, and puts people before himself. And if the Americans aren't happy, then neither is he. He wants to do whatever he can to make other people happy, even if it makes him miserable.
3. Yes, and No, I want the government to be able to supply me and my family with shelter, food, clothes, and money; but I don't want them living my life for me or anyone else. By that I mean, having the government telling people how to dress, and what to eat, and who to live with. After all, it is our life. With a little support of the government we'll have all we need.
4. Life would most likely agree with this quote because as tough as he is, he has a soft spot. He likes to help the people who he cares about. If someone he cares about isn't happy with something, he'd do whatever he can to make them feel better.
1. Kaitlyn Lechtanski 11-30-11 MW2
ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson was probably concerned about the Revolutionary war. He said this quote about a year before the war ended. He wanted the Americans to be happy with what they are doing. When they win, their going to be struggling for a while. They have to make a government and fix so many problems. Thomas was telling them that after the bad things go by, there would be happiness.
3. I think it would be nice, but they shouldn't go overboard with it. The only problem I have with the government are some of the things they are changing. My grandparents tell me about them all the time, it sounds like they are having problems. I would want some help from the government, but not to the point that it overwhelms me.
4. I bet that he thought that America was going down. Life was a loyalist, or a person loyal to the king. He wanted peace, but had a feeling that it wouldn't happen. He would agree about the government with it's power, but he thought that the Americans would not have happiness. He thought that the Americans would loss the war and not have to deal with that.
LeAnn Howe MW2 11-30-11
ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson would be concerned about the future happiness of Americans because people worked hard to make America free. He wouldn't want all of that work to go to waste. Also Jefferson would be concerned about his family's future. If people are causing problems with the government and with the environment, it will be up to their children or even their grandkids to fix it.
3. No. I do not want the government to take care of me. If everyone started to depend on the government, they would go crazy. There is no way that they could take care of every person that wanted to be taken care of. People need to learn how to be independent and stand on their own two feet. I want to be independent and learn how to support myself and see if I can have success.
4. Tim's father, Life, is a loyalist. He would think that this quote is silly. Life wants to stay loyal to his king. Since the Patriots were fighting to have their own government, he probably wouldn't like this quote. Tim's father didn't think that the government would be able to last long. He wanted to be ruled by a leader that had a lot of experience. Being led by the king was the way he wanted it to be.
1. Evan Bauer 11/30/11 MW2
ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson would be very concerned about the future of America. He would be concerned because he was one of the many people who built up are country from the ashes of war. He was one of many that thought of are country as his child. What parent wouldn't want to see there child succeed in life. Thats why Thomas Jefferson is concerned for the future of America because its his baby.
3. I would not want the government to take care of me. I don't like how the government is now and it looks like they can't even take care of themselves let alone others. They also don't know me as well as I do, I would know when I needed something and when something bothered me, the government wouldn't know these things only I would. If anyone was to take care of me it would be myself I believe I can survive on my own in are beautiful world.
4. Tim's father would think that Thomas Jeffersons quote was wrong. He believed in the government of Britain and they did not take care of the people, thats why the united states broke away from them. Father also might have believed that the quote was correct in some ways. He could have thought that the government needed to take care of the people first and then worry about other things. It is hard to tell if Father would like this quote or not but ether way its a true and strong quote.
1. Mckenzie Barth MW2 11-30-11
ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson might be concerned about the future happiness of America, because we they had just fought and got America to where it is was. He wanted to make sure that it stayed that way, that people were still happy and free. Jefferson wanted America to not be over took by the goverNment, and to still have all their rights.
3. No I do not want the government to take care of me. I don't necessarily need them. I think that if they want to give help they should give money and care to the people who really need it. To often people are flying by life caring about how much money they have and not stopping to look around at the people with nothing.
4. I think Life (Tim's Father) would like this quote . It states "...If they can prevent the government from wasting labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them." It is saying something bad about the government. Life was a loyalist and believed in the government that was in Britain. He was loyal to Britain and America had just finished the Declaration of Independence. I doubt that he, himself really liked the Declaration, he might have found it somewhat funny that Thomas Jefferson doesn't really have that much confidence in the new government or the people to come.
1. Matt Strong MW2 11/30/11
ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson wants everyone in America to be happy. Without happy people in a country, the country wouldn't be a country. The people need things in their home that give them joy. They need things like fun games to be happy.
3. I don't want the government to take care of me because I don't want someone to baby me. I don't want someone to be constantly looking over me. I can take care of myself. The government should worry about only themselves.
4. Tim's father Life would think this quote is a very smart quote. He would reflect on it whenever he talks to Tim. Tim would also use it as something to look up to in life. Both Tim and Life would thank Thomas Jefferson in person for this quote. They would look to him as a person to go to for thoughtful advice. He is a very good person and half of the United States wouldn't exist.
1. Zack Fuller MW2 11-30-11
ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson is saying that he wants Americans to be happy and a strong country for a long time. This means that he is carrying not for himself but 15 or 20 genrations latter that americans should be strong. Jefferson is wanting americans to become a 1st world county and to keep growing.
3. I want the government to take care of us but only when I'm older. We still want the army to protect us and the firefighters to save us. I don't want the government to get in are every day lives that is just going over the line. The government is telling us what to eat and what to do and what type games to play. Those choices are more are parents rights and feelings about the products. So the government just needs to slow down and get out of people business.
4. Tim's father Life would think nothing of this joke and just go on his day. Life would be more worried about Sam and the war instead of a little saying. Life is just trying to make a living for his family. Evan know Life is a loyalist he still won't be effected by this but maybe other loyalist would just blow it out of the water. At the end of the day Life probably just forgot about it.
1. Vincent Pecoraro 11/30/11 MW2
ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson said this because he is afraid that not everyone will agree with the rules and regulations of America. But he is trying to say is if we play our cards right we will be happy. Also if we don't then depression might come are way. So he is scared that the future of the united States has to do will if every individual does the right thing.
3. Yes, I would like them to take care of us but only to a certain extent. They shouldn't start paying for everything to keep us afloat, then no one would work because they don't have so much as a need for money. But for the people who are homeless and have no family and cant get a job it's the right thing to help them back on there feet. The country should be lead by the people helping the government, as the government helps the people.
4. Life would not except nor understand what it means. He just doesn't want anymore war and is trying to make everything stay the same. Life is not the one for change so he still respects the King. He believes that the government is doing everything right and should keep the people in line. Being a loyalist there is nothing but the Government protecting the people and that's that.
1.Megan Gunderson, MW2, 11/30/11
ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson Should because of the government in 1782.He should be concerned because if the government doesn't get a grip, the government it might collapse and America could be taken over again. All of Thomas Jefferson hard work on the new government and laws might go to waste.Thomas Jefferson should be worried because if the government doesn't fix its problems then there might not be hope for happiness in America.
3. I want the government to take care of me for many reasons. The government protects my rights and freedoms. They help fight for my freedoms in America.Sometimes they might have to fight in war to protect me.Without them I wouldn't have life, liberty, or the pursuit of happiness.I want the government to take care of me because they give me all the right I deserve and a happy live in the U.S.A.
4. )Tim's father will think the quote is dumb.In the book father thinks that we should just stick with Britain and not be in war.Father believes the war is gaining us nothing, but losing happiness and family.Father thinks that we should just quite the fight against the British.Father says colonists can have happiness even if the British are ruling and bossing them around.Father's opinion might be we "may not have are freedom but we can still be happy."
1. Malorie Moen 11/30/11 MW2
ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson would be concerned about the future happiness of Americans because he cares about other people. He also doesn't want the government to take care of people, because he believes we are all independent people. He also probably might think that the future Americans wouldn't be happy if they weren't independent.
3. I do not want the government to take care of me because, I can take care of myself. I don't need help from the government to take care of my needs. Nobody really does need the government to take care of them, because everyone should be independent.
4. Tim's Father, Life, might not agree with this quote. Thomas Jefferson is talking about how the government doesn't need to take care of people. Life would probably disagree, because he likes the government and doesn't want any changes. Also, Life is more of a tough person, than a nice person, so he probably doesn't care if people are happy in the future. Everyone needs happiness, and Life wouldn't know that, since hes usually in a bad mood. Happiness is what we make it. We can be happy anytime of the day, but only if we choose to.
1.Kira D'Agostino 11/30/11 1st hour MW2
ReplyDelete2.Thomas Jefferson would care about the people's happiness because the people's happiness is important. If the government takes control over the powers of the people then there will not be any happiness. Thomas Jefferson cares about the people's happiness because they control that laws. They are they people who will create or fix this nation. If they are not happy they will not see that making harsh laws will hurt their nation.
3. I would not want the government take care of me because if the government had to take care of everyone things would not turn out so well. They would be taking away your freedoms and taking away things that they thought was wrong. After awhile of them being the parent of the state things will start to lose their worth. You will not have to even go out because the governments taking care of you so what's the need? After a year the government will become like a king. They decide what you can and can not do.
In fact It's exactly like having a king. When your ancestors fought for the country that now you don't have control of. That's why the government should not take care of us.
4. He would probably allow it. He doesn't have to worry about fighting which he does not believe is necessary. Life is a Tory he is loyal to the king and would not be against it. Yes he may disagree with some of the laws but he would mostly stay quiet. I can't say the same for Sam or Tim but Life would not complain.
1. Sam Love 11/30/11 mw2
ReplyDelete2. He would be concerned about the people happiness because of everything the people who fought for freedom went through. If he found out that the people weren't happy because the government wasn't being fair or they were overpowering like a King, he would be angry because they went through wars and many struggles just getting the country started. Another reason he wouldn't be very happy is if the government and the people weren't treating people fairly because in the constitution it says everyone i treated equal.
3. For me it would be, yes and no. For yes, I would like the government to actually help the people. Like nowadays there bailing out all of the big banks and companies to help the people when they don't they just use the money for themselves. I wouldn't want the government to be weak and not have control over what goes on in. Other countries are slowly dieing off because the government cannot control the people and there are wars amongst themselves. But i don't want the government taking over like what happened to the colonist when the King wanted everything to be his way.
4. Tim's father would have been against it. He would of been against it because he was a loyalist and despised patriotism. In the book My Brother Sam is Dead a may came into the tavern and was insulting the king. Father had enough of it and threw the man out, literally. It was an obvious sign that he was a torie.
1. Abby Schoonover 11/29/11 MW2
ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson played a big role in making the U.S.A. a free country. He also helped establish the constitution. He spent many hot, long days in the Constitutional Convention trying to make our government work the way it does today. He was very pleased with how the government worked after the constitution was made. He probably thought if the government continues to work this well in the future, the country will be happy.
3. Yes, I do want the government to take care of me. They have run our country for a very long time. I have had a very happy life and the government has been taking care of our country my whole life. Seeing that I love my life and I am happy with it and the government has taken care of me my whole life, I would like them to continue to take care of me.
4. I don't think Life would agree with this quote. Life was a loyalist which meant he was loyal to the king. He wanted to stay under the kings rule. He didn't want to be an independent nation and he was against war. Thomas Jefferson was talking about the government and the new nation that Life was against, so I don't think he would agree with this statement.
1. Katelyn McCarthy 11-30-11 MW2
ReplyDelete2. He is a patriot and he wants others to be happy. He is a good person to be around. And he just wants everybody to be happy.
3. Yes. Because they are better than having a king, or even nobody at all. The king wouldn't do anything at all. At least having one person taking care of you would be a little more helpful. That is why I would want the government to take care of me.
4. Tim's father would say that he doesn't believe it at all. He is a loyalist. He would also say that only patriots would believe it. Tim might believe it, but his father probably wouldn't. Tim might believe it because he doesn't know if he's patriot like Sam or a loyalist like father. Tim's father would think that they are just making this up to get more people on their side.
1. Eddie Roberts, 11-30-11, mw2
ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson would care for the future happiness of American citizens because he wants the country he lived in to keep moving on and be happy. He would care about our happiness because he helped draft the Declaration of Independence and want people to be free and if you are free you are happy.
3. Yes, I want the government to take care of me because without them there would be no structure or order. If I got really sick and was dieing I wouldn't have any health benefits to take care of me, without the government. There wouldn't be any laws to keep me safe.
4. Tim's father would say that it is not important to think of the future because we are having a hard time right now. With the war in the way we aren't getting customers and without customers we don't have money to pay for food. We need to worry about right now and not the future.
1. Jacob Robinson MW2 11/30/11
ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson would be concerned because he was our founding fathers and cares about our future. He was the one who drafted the Declaration of Independence and wants us to remain free and safe. The happiness of the people living in the United States is important to him because he wants them to be happy and safe and free.
3. Yes I would like the government to take care of me because I would like some extra help and care from them. It would be better to have help and care from the government than not having help and care from them. If there was no government taking care of us then there wont be a United States.
4. Tim's father would think that it is not important to worry about the future and you should be worrying about what is happening right now and worry about the war not our country's future. I do think he will have a sense of the future for his son, but he just wants to get through this time now and worry about the future later. I think Tim's father thinks that it is not true until it proves its self to the people that we will be free in the future and not stuck under a government. Without happiness who would we be.

ReplyDelete1. Mikal LaButte 11/30/11 MW2
2. He would be concerned because if the world did not turn out the way he wanted it to be and if it didn't it would be his fault so he tried to make it the best he could.
3. Yes I want to have the government to take care of me because if they don't then I will be on my own and t will be harder to have a good job and can afford for my family and myself. So it is important to have the government toke care of you so you can make a living.
4. Tim's father Life would say " Is it that is it that hard to give your country a little help in the government and help out the soldiers"? the reason why I say that is because he was a man that was not with the war and he had to take care of his family his tavern and his animals. For a man and his family this is hard work to do.
1. Joshua Helm 11-30-11 MW2
ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson is worried about the Americans because he knows if they win Independence from Britain, They still might have a problem with the way they establish government. And with that freedom people could try and take the country for themselves. There were many logical problems that they still went ahead with even though, they knew this all.
3. Yeah I guess I would like to be take care of me. Because I guess without it I would not have insurance on me. But I could handle myself in some situations. I just don't know if the government is the "strongest shield" but we all use it we've lived here for years and years on end.
4. Life, being a Loyalist would think this is ridiculous because he lives in the present and worries about the present. He cares nothing for the future just the present and is also a pacifist in a way. Life is unconcerned
he didn't care which side won as long as war ended. He could care for the future once the war was over.
1. Jonathan Haddon 11/30/11 3rd hr
ReplyDelete2. He would be concerned about the future happiness for the Americans because if people of a nation aren't happy after a certain amount of time they will rebel than they will create another revolution and cause the country to either crumble or be built better than before and with that they will be inexperienced and ignorant to the dangers of the enemies to the United States of America and be destroyed.
3. I don't want the government to take care of me because I can take care of my self and any one who cant take care of them self unless an infant, elderly, or crippled is not a true American we should not need to rely on other countries for any thing els but food, medicine, military support, and ally.
4. Tim's father would think that he should stop talking start working, and give up the war against the british so that the colonies would not be destroyed because the British army has never been defeated.
1. Riley Hafner 11/30/11 MW-2
ReplyDelete2. I believe that Thomas Jefferson was concerned about our happiness because they had done so much to make our lives better and easier. People fought and died for us and if our new lives and our new government fell through then what would happen? Would we have needed to go back to the king just to fall under his cruelty once again? There were worries of the indians and of diseases and of war between the states. Happiness was something that we had gained with tears and sorrow. Of coarse Jefferson would be concerned with our happiness. He signed the Declaration of Independence in hopes that it would create a stronger government that would make things better for all the people of the United States. If he saw everything that him, and every other man who signed it worked for fall through, then he would probably be in dispare that the lives of the people couldn't be fixed. Our future happiness was one of the biggest worries, I feel, that the men and women had.
3. Yes I want the government to take care of me. The Declaration of Independence was signed for a reason. It was so that laws were fair and just. It also stated that every man was created equal and that we had the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The government was created to help the people. It was made so that we had a plan that was equal to all the people. It is the governments job to keep things up and running and without it we would have no idea what to do. How would our money be spent? What is the tax on things? How would schools and libraries be funded? So in my opinion I want the government to take care of us.
4. Life would most likely be against it. He is a Loyalist and he would think that a life without the king would be an unhappy life. He thought that without the king there would be a lot of things wrong with the new world. He thought that Sam becoming a Patriot was a bad idea. This statement by Jefferson would not sit well with Life.
1. Camryn Ozuch MW4 11/30/11
ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson was concerned about the future, because he wants the country to be happy. He wants to know that the country he once ruled, is off on a good foot. Jefferson needs to know you are doing the right thing as an American citizen, and are helping your country grow. Jefferson needs to see the impact he made on the country continue throughout the future of America.
3. Yes and no at the same time. This is because I want the government to help me. They can help our country in many ways and keep order. But then again, I want to make my own decisions and have some freedom of what I can and can't do. We can do this now, but I feel like the government could do more buy doing less. They need to let us make our own choices and realize that we can do what we need to but have some fun in the process.
4. Life would say something like, "Who are you to say the government is "taking over"? They are helping us follow rules and not go crazy with each other." Life would be very upset and be kind of mad that Jefferson said this because he likes the fact that the king and government are taking care of him, his family, and his country all at once. He is a loyalist and feels safe knowing he has someone (government) that he can depend on.
1. Kyle Gonos 11-30-11 MW4
ReplyDelete2. He would be concerned about the future happiness of Americans because he helped draft the Declaration of Independence. Because he drafted that, he did not want to repeat what Britain did, which made there people unhappy. Thomas Jefferson was unselfish because he wanted what he was going to do to effect us today in a good way. He probably thought that if the government pleased the people, the people would be happy.
3. I would want the government to take care of me because they are what keep us safe. Also they keep the public from going insane and just doing whatever they want. They keep society intact. Without the government we would be unsafe. We need to rely on them to keep our country with us and no one else.
4. Tim's father would think that instead of talking about the future, he needs to talk about the present. Father might think that in order to have a happy future you must have a good pleasuring plan going forward. He could also think that this quote is worthless because he is a Loyalist. Life would say that these people who make these quotes are who my son Sam went to go fight for. Father might think that they Colonists should stick with Britain because the American's government is going to fall apart without them.
1. Cheyanne Havermahl, 11/30/11, MW4
ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson would be concerned with the future of happiness of Americans because he would want everyone to have a nice life. If people were not happy they would not have a nice life, so they would probably want to try to fix that. A way that they could try to become happy is by rebelling, because then they could maybe get what they wanted. If people stated to rebel then the government could loose money, or not get the trade that they need. That could face big consequences for the government. This is a reason why Thomas Jefferson would want people to be happy and fallow the laws the government gives American's.
3. No, I wouldn't want the government to take care of me because I want freedom and my own rights. I feel that if the government took care of me then I would not have all of the freedom that we have today. With the freedom the government gives us we can do so many things and have so many chances to get a good education, and do good with our lives. If the government took care of us I don't think our lives would be as good or free as they are now, and we wouldn't have as many rights. we wouldn't get as good of a life because I don't think that the government would be able to take as good of care of everyone, and you can take better care of yourself.
4. Tim's father Life would think that it isn't right, that we should be controlled by the king and end the war's. Tim thinks that the will loose the war to the British. Life also thinks it is a waste of time, and they will obviously loose the war. But in my opinion Life is wrong, because they have so much faith in the war. Which they end up winning! And they had a chance at winning the war because of the French that helped them through the war by suppling, weapons, and soldiers.

ReplyDelete2. Because Thomas cared for his country. He wanted the people that others have worked hard to provide with freedom to be happy. He knew that other people have lost their lives, and tried hard for us to be happy.
3.Yes I would. If the government is not good to its nation and its people, then the nation would be weak. For any country to succeed, it needs to have a stable government. If we had a government that did not take care of us, then we would have major problems.
4. Tim's father would disagree with this quote. He would think that Thomas Jefferson is lying and wouldn't he trust him. Tim's dad thinks that the only way they can stay safe and stable is if they stay with Britain. TIm's dad is a loyalist, so he probably wouldn't like Thomas Jefferson using the word, "Americans" when he wanted them to stay dependent on Britain.

2. Thomas Jefferson was concerned because,he watched himself and others work so hard to see a lifetime of happiness. There were people who gave up everything they had so that the coming generations would be able be happy and have pride in their home.So if we aren't happy with the decisions made and the type of government then all they did would be for nothing in his eyes.
3.I would have to be fifty fifty on the question. If the government would take care of me by doing the right things and, making resources available for me then yes.If the government decided to take resources away from me and, control our home lives then no.
4. He wouldn't think very highly of the quote. He believed the the American government didn't know what they were doing. He thought very highly of the king and, believed the king was the only one who knew how to run a successful country.

ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson was concerned about the future happiness of Americans because he wants people to stay safe and people to not get hurt or die because of what people do like hurt them or try to get into fights. He wants people to stay safe.He wants people to help other people keep there friends of family safe.
3. I dont want the government to take care of me because i can take care of my self. People that have a disease might need help taking care of them selfs and people that cant walk or talk. People that don't have food or cant drive to the store to get food need help to get some food so they don't die.
4. Tim's father life is like this quote because he is not very happy all the time he gets mad at sam because of some thing sam does after sam walks away his dad is mad for a very long time. Tim's father can be some times happy but not all the time. He is usually upset because of the things that go around in his house. The only time he is happy is when people say nice things to him or he does something fun to make himself happy.

ReplyDelete2. He wouldn't want future Americans unhappy because if the future Americans are unhappy it means he failed somewhere while making the country. If they are unhappy the country could fall apart or collapse. If the country collapsed it would be partially his fault and then he wouldn't be as well known.
3. I don't want the country to take care of me because then they could take away some rights or control how you use them. They could limit what you bye with your money and even decide what job you have.
4. He wouldn't like it very much, because he is a loyalist and it's written by Thomas Jefferson who is a patriot. Also it talks about America where his father would like it to be part of England and not a different country altogether. His father also believes that America on its own without England's help wouldn't be good and Thomas Jefferson says they would be happy. He is such a loyalist that when a man walked into the bar and was insulting the king, he picked him up and threw him out of the bar.

ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson was a leader. He is worried about the Americans fighting in the war because he knew if they won they would still have a problem. He could not predict the future but he was worried about it. He didn't want any problems with Britain.
3. Yes but No, No because i can take care of myself and can handle life without the government. Yes, because the government can help you get a job and also gives you insurance.

ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson would be concerned about the future of the Americans because he wants the country to not become a dictatorship as they thought it was in Britain. He would have wanted the Americans to have the same freedom he had when he was in the U.S. Thomas Jefferson would have wanted us to be happy and live a great life doing what you want. He would have wanted us to not be uptight like Britain was. Thomas Jefferson would have liked to see us to have freedom and have our own opinions.
3. I would not like the government to control me because the way I think of it is that when the government starts to control me than I lose my freedom. I feel like when the government tries to control me I have no rights, I can't do what I would like. When the government starts to control me theres more regulations and I can't just have a good time. When the government puts more rules on me the government could take advantage of me and I could be working in a factory for all I know. So no I would not like the government to take care me because they could just be trying to butter me up for something stupid that could hurt me in the long run.
4. Life would probably think "what future for Americans the only future that we will have is being loyal to the king." He would think that we have t be loyal to the king and we can't not have a future without him. LIfe is a Tory so he feels that everyone either has ancestors that came from England or you're from England so you should be loyal to the king. Life thinks that since the king runs the country then we should be loyal. Being loyal to the king is not as important as getting freedom from Britain. Life thinks that he has freedom in America but really it's kind of a dictatorship. Life wants to be loyal to the king because he is afraid of the king. Life can't change the way things are going and he will probably have a better life when the war ends but he just doesn't know it yet

ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson cared about the future Americans lives because he knew that he was building the foundation for the government in the present and to carry on in the future. He wanted to care about our future because he wanted his country to prosper and live and flourish!
3. I don't want the government to take care of me because I want to be singular and successful! I want to be able to take care of myself and my family when it comes to that time. The government can barely take care of itself how could it take care of me?
4. I think that Life would be indifferent about this because he was a Tory and he seemed like the kind of person that is like.. "My idea is best, I know it, you are wrong." Sam and Tim both know what Life would think just by knowing who he is. He probably only cares about Sam coming home safe from the war.

ReplyDelete2. He would be concerned for the future happiness because in that point of time the country was filled with feuding between the states. The country was still under The Articles of Confederation, and many people were unhappy. As a founding father I would imagine that he would want the future generations to appreciate, and be happy in the country he worked hard for.
3. It is my personal political belief, and I know that others may have a different belief, that the government is obligated to take care of it's citizens. Universal healthcare has been proven to work in other countries, even in some places one wouldn't imagine like Cuba. Places with universal health care have some of the highest health expectancy marks in the world, like Hong Kong. I could do a rant, or an essay about why I am in support of health care reform, but this isn't the assignment to do it.
4. Tim's father, being a loyalist, would blame his worry on America's new independence. He would say that if we hadn't became independent from Britain that we would be happy. He would blame most of the young country's problems on declaring independence from Britain. He still wants to be a British citizen, he thinks that everyone would be happy if they were.

ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson cared about the future because he wanted to see his impact he made on the world. Thomas probably wants to see how he helps people even after he is gone.
3. Yes because if the government takes care of us and do there job at the same time there will be less economical issues. They can be helpful and give you loans and they could make houses for people that need them. they wold keep you safe from terrorist attacks and we wold be one government. If we were one government there wold be less arguing and a better economy.
4. Tim's dad wold probably say that he was crazy and say he doesn't know what is right. He would not like it he wold object to what he is saying. He wold say that it is good that the government is taking care of us.He wold wonder what has happen to the wold and see if people agreed with him or not. Tim's dad is not afraid to take a stand for what he thinks is right. he wold be motivated to put up signs and protest agents it.

3.Yes I want to have the government to take care of me because if they don't then I will be on my own. It would be harder to have a good job and to take care of my family and myself. So it is important to have the government toke care of you so you can make a living.
4.Tim's father Life would say " Is it that hard to give your country a little help in the government and help out the soldiers"? The reason why I say that is because he was a man that was not with ether side of the war and he had to take care of his family, his tavern, and his animals. For a man and his family this is hard work to do.

ReplyDelete2. I'm sure that he would be very concerned to wonder and to think, what would this country be like in the future. If only he could see us now and how far America has come. If only see the vast accomplishments that we have created in this here Great And Free Country.
3. No No No! I don't ever want the government to take care of me or anyone else in this country. I think the government should back off, the reason behind my thoughts you might ask is simple. I know that the founding fathers wanted this country to be free of a single ruler like King George the third. I do not ever want the government to take any type of care of us due only to the fact that, that is not what the Founding Fathers would want.
4. I think that he wouldn't really care for the future, i'm sure that the only thing he is hoping is that the loyalists win. That is the only thing i think he cares about. I am sure that he really doesn't care for how well America is doing in the near future. Or vast future.

3. I would not allow the goverment to take care of me, and my family, because the government would probably waste money. Also because they would probably take advantage of my wealth, or my family. The government would probably try to screw me over
4. He would probably go along with it. Only because of the way he is. He would probably have a speech to tell Tim. I'm sure Tim would care thou because he is against his father. He also hated all the ideas his father had told on him. Tim hated his father with a passion.

2. Thomas Jefferson fought for his freedom, and since he earned it, he wants it to be passed on, to not die out and fight for absolutely nothing. He fought for everyone to live in freedom and happiness, and he wants to see if America can continue what he earned. He wants to know if America will eventually become more and more of what he sought to destroy; England. He cannot make the future generations happy, though. They can only do that themselves.
3. No, because that's what we fought to get rid of. If the government took care of us, we would not work because we get the exact same thing if we work or not. Also, people would be less creative because one of the biggest motives to invent is the big bucks and people wouldn't need that if the got the same things for free. We need to work for ourselves, and be motivated to make a better world and a more productive society. We need to earn what we need and want through inovation, productivity, and motivation.
4. Life would think that it's a bad quote because going against the government in his eyes is wrong. The government is "Appointed by God" and shouldn't be apposed, unless you want to die and go under, if you know what I mean. He would like that he is concerned of people's happiness, though. He would say that the government should be in charge and "That's how it should be".

3.I think it would be nice, but they shouldn't get carried away with it. The only problem I have with the government are some of the things they are changing. We need a stable structure and with it it wouldn't work out. Every state should have this and the country should be supported by the president.
4. Tim's father would agree with this because he always says don't worry about later and worry about what's going on right now. But there's always sometimes when he needs to worry about later but doesn't. That's a mistake. He's not very happy at times which I think he shouldn't be happy. I think Tim would agree with Father

3. Yes, I want the government to take care of me. I want them to take care of me because if I was disabled I wouldn't be able to do anything and make money to have food and a shelter. I would have to depend on the government. So yes i would like to be taken care by the government.

2. I think Thomas Jefferson would be more concerned about the people, and the country, more then himself. I think this because he would want the other people to be happy, more than himself. He probably was happy, if others were happy.
3. I would not want the government to take care of me. They probably would see it was a burdon. With all the Americans that there are, they would be overwhelmed. Having to take care of thousands and thousands of people would just be to much. So no, I wouldn't want them to take care of me because they would probably make sure I seem happy and then move on to the next American they need to care for. They wouldn't care for me with all they have.
4. I think Tims father, Life, would not want the government caring for him. To me, Life seems like a tough, do it yourself guy. In my eyes, he wouldn't want anyone helping him take care of his family. Most fathers get pride when they can take care of their family and if the government had to help then Life would probably feel a little shame in himself.

3. Yes and no, the government does fight to protect us but they leave a lot of things out of the public. Yes, i would want the government to protect us. I just want the government to let the public in on some things.
4. Tim's father would disagree with this quote. He to hard-headed to even try the chance at freedom. He hated the americans and wanted them to end the war and be loyalists again. He was also a loyalists so he has no choice but to go with the british.

ReplyDelete2.Thomas Jefferson was concerned about the future happiness of Americans because he knew that things would change in American and he always wants people to be happy no matter what happens or changes. Also he was part of America an he never wants it to change into something bad and if it did. Then he would only want people to be happy. At the time period he said that and if something did go wrong then everyone would look upon him and think bad of him because he is in the government.
3. Yes, I think the government should take care of us. If there wasn't a government then nothing would be stable and nothing would really be the same. Also they keep us safe and make sure everyone is not crazy and things dont get out of hand.
4. Tims father would think bad of this quote because he doesn't like loyalist and thats what Thomas Jefferson was. I think he would want people to be happy but he wouldn't want the government to do anything about it. Father thinks that wars are nothing and that there not gonna do that much at all. He doesn't like them at all and he thinks that people would be happy by themselves not others trying to make it.
1.) Lexi Gross 12/1/11 T-T-2
ReplyDelete2.) Wouldn't you care about the future happiness for your family? Well for Tomas Jefferson America was his family, and we are all of his children. He cares about our happiness because we are a part of him and forever will be. I know that I would certainly want peace and happiness for all of my family to go on and on.
3.) I would want the government to help me right now, since I'm just a kid right now. When I grow up and I have a family, I cannot really know if I would want the government to take care of me, because i'm not grown up. The government can help you in certain situations, but sometimes, you don't always want them to help.
4.) Life is a strong, hard held man. He can take care of himself just fine, but in the inside he is emotional and had feelings. He would probably go against it, just because Thomas Jefferson is a patriot, and he is a loyalist. Life wouldn't want happiness for americans, because he is against them. He obeys the king and he would choose him, over americans any day. Every body has their own opinion about things, and Life chose to be loyal to King George Ⅲ, I choose not to be. All in all Life wouldn't want happiness for the Americans.
1. Jake Landsberger 12/1/11 TT2
ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson is worrying about future Americans happiness probably because happiness can bring freedom. If you are happy it doesn't matter what you are doing, but that you are happy. Anyone who isn't happy is not truly living, but dead on the inside. I am happy and I can say that I am truly living, but I know people who aren't and they almost seem to suck the happiness out of people they are with because they are so negative.
3.I do not want the government to take care of me. I am not one who believes that the government is trying to help us. I see the government as an enemy. They are trying to con us out of hard earned money and throw families out on the street. I hope one day to see the government fall and see the people form their own societies. I would like to live in my own little town and have a "government" of my own.
4. Life would have probably thought ill of this quote. He is a man who believes that everyone should work. He does not believe in freedom or that one should be happy, but only alive. I would have been beaten if I was his child because I am very patriotic and I don't back down from anything. I am surprised that Tim doesn't become like Sam and leave for the rebellion. If I was Tim I wouldn't have stayed. Life didn't like rebellion or freedom. He believed that the king was the ruler and that was that, not even arguable.

2. Thomas Jefferson would be concerned about us because earlier he and many Americans fought for theirs' and our freedom. Ben Franklin wants to preserve that freedom until the end, so he was thinking about if the future of America would be screwed up by future Americans. He was so passionate about Freedom and life liberties he inspires us to hold on to that very freedom that they fought to protect.
3. I would want the government to take care of me because I couldn't run a system of monetary exchange or make peace with foreign invaders. They also protect us from rebellions and people who don't like us. They are a system that has worked for hundreds of years so of-course I would like them to take care of me.
4. Tim's father would agree with this because He might think well we can fight the king of the second mightiest country on earth by working together. Maybe this could work as long as we continue to work together and never give up.He might also think that we could not have a future of happiness because as soon as we mess-up every single country in the world will be their to take us over. He is one of the most complicated personas I have ever heard of. So in conclusion I don't know what he would say but I have two guesses
1. Jensen Borkowski TT2 12/1/11
ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson would be concerned for Americans because he was an American too. He would want the best for our country and its people. If the people are unhappy, that could mean that government isn't doing well. Thomas Jefferson wouldn't be very proud if the government wasn't doing well because he was a part of the government.
3. I don't want the government to take care of me. If they take care of me, they may take away my rights and start changing rules. If they were in charge of me they wouldn't have a citizen's perspective and the government would just make decisions without consulting the people.
4. I don't think that Tim's father would like this quote. Because Tim's father is a loyalist, he wants to be ruled by Britain. This quote is about hoping for America to be successful as an independent nation and Life doesn't want that. He wants to stay loyal to Britain. Life is hoping that America doesn't do well as an independent nation so Britain will have to rule us again.
1. Paige Leatherman 12/1/11 TT2
ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson might care about future Americans happiness because he cares about others. Also he might have hoped so much for others happiness he just knew we were going to have happiness. Another thing is if we were unhappy he might think that he has failed in his government to do what he was suppose to do to make others happy.
3. Government taking care of me is an okay idea. Because I don't want them thinking they have to do everything for people. Also getting some of my rights could get taken away if they care of me. I want people to think I can do things on my own. But being able to know that I'm taking care of and safe is nice to know.
4. Tim's father would think this quote is okay. Because he isn't the kind of person who really cares about others happiness. But for him to know that the government is taking care of him, he would probably like this idea. Another thing that he wouldn't like is that Thomas Jefferson is a patriot, while he is a loyalist. He might not agree with it so much. Also he didn't have high faith for America, so he doesn't really care about Americans happiness.
1. Caeley Hendee, 12-1-11, TT2
ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson was worried because maybe his life wasn't has happy has he hoped for. That he cared for others, and he wanted to show others that he just doesn't care about his own life.
3. No I don't want the government to take care of me. The government may have lots of money, and will give health plans, and other things. Taking care of myself is easy. They will control me, and tell me what to do. They can take away my rights and some of my freedom. Its kind of either way, they can do anything and they would protect you at all times. You might be able to get whatever you want, but I don't want to be controlled. I have my rights to be happy, and live life until its fullest. I'm gonna achieve that has much as possible.
4. He would definitely disagree with this, because he is always mad, and doesn't seem to care, that is in my opinion. He has never smiled or been happy, and maybe he doesn't want to be happy. Tim's father is the loyalist he wants to be ruled by the Britain. He doesn't care about the future, he just wants to get through the day, and see what tomorrow will bring.
1. Cody Musulin 12/1/11 TT2
ReplyDelete2. Thomas would be concerned, because he wants America to last as long as it can, he doesn't want America to fall. Thomas cares about the people of America and will do as much as he can to keep it alive. He wants to know that the country is happy and growing, as a country and not just in pieces.
3. I do want the government to take care of me, and everyone else, to keep them safe as much as they can. If people want to care to themselves and not let the government keep them safe then they can go off on there own. We need to know that if we get hurt or get in an accident that they can provide something and somewhere that will help us recover.
4. Tim's father life would think this is all just a scam and wouldn't believe any of it. Her would just throw it away once he read it, he wouldn't want anything to do with that quote, the only thing he would think of that quote would be Sam. Life is a very strong loyalist and that is why he would throw it away right as he saw that it was about rebels and America. Life would think it was making fun of the king and to get more people to join the rebels and the continental army, the only time he would consider reading this is maybe, when the rebels won the war and considered going to America.
1. Elle Kennedy 12/1/11 TT2
ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson would be worried about the future happiness because he would want the people in the country that he used to live in and helped create to be happy and how it was for him after the revolutionary war. He helped create the country so if the future americans are unhappy that means that him and the other signers of the declaration and creators of it, failed somewhere in making the country.
3. Yes I would like the government to help take care of me because they have the army which protects us from al-queda and other harmful things that could kill us. Without the government we probably would not have a very good or organized army. Without an army a lot of people would be getting hurt. Also, the government helps people make money by having job offers and getting people money.
4. Tim's father Life would probably not like this quote very much. He would think that you shouldn't be concerned about the future of the country because it's not in the present and you should worry about what's happening right now. If you worry about what's going to happen when you aren't even alive anymore then you can't go in and fix it because you are not alive. Therefore, there is no sense in worrying about the future of your country. You can sure try to make it better for the future people in the country by making different laws that you think would make them happy but you don't know what will make them happy because you have not met them.
1. Darren Murray 12/1/11 TT2
ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson is pretty much saying that he knows that there is going to be happiness and that he is also saying that the government should stop babying.
3. If I had to choose between being babied by the government or not, I would choose being babied because I am only 13 and I would not know what to do if the government did not help a little. The government is responsible for all the tax's and all the money in America so they pretty much have all the power.
4. Well his father knows whats going on. Most of the time. He would probably think that this would be a true prediction because things are getting better and better for his family as you go along in the book. Tim would also think the best for the future because the way he knows a lot from what his father has taught him, he will also learn much more in what things would get better and better as time goes by. I believe.

ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson predicts that we will all have happiness because maybe if he predicts it, it might come true. Jefferson wants us to be happy because that means he did a good job with the government, the freedom, the people. If the people in the future are happy, then they didn't get taken over by the British. Everyone wants everyone to be happy, but Jefferson could just tell by how the government was working, that everyone was going to be happy in the future.
3. I do want the government to take care of me, but I also don't. I don't want the government to take over my life, friends, family just so I don't get hurt. If the government wants to protect me, great but I'm not letting it take my friends and family away. I also do want it to protect me because I don't want to have terrorists in my living room everyday because the government doesn't want to help. They can't put a force field around us but they also can't do nothing. There are limitations to what they should and shouldn't do.
4. Life probably would have spit on the quote if he could. He believes that he is the only person that will take care of him except the king. He probably thinks that what Jefferson said is not true. He hates the Patriots so he would hate Jefferson. He wouldn't believe that for a second, that we will be happy in the future, in America. If it was his choice, he would move back to Great Britain and be under the King's rule. So Life would have thought that was a load of garbage because he thought that there is NO way that people could be happy in America, even in the future.

Where would we be at this moment ? These were all the worries of the nation. Happiness was something that we had gained with tears and sorrow. Of coarse Jefferson would be concerned with our happiness. He signed the Declaration of Independence in hopes that it would create a stronger government that would make things better for all the people who are standing in this earth. If he saw everything that him, and every other man who signed it worked for fall through, then he would probably be in dispare that the lives of the people couldn't be fixed. Our future can be changed anytime no matter where ever we are in this world.
3. Every single nation in this world wants the government to take care of them but not like some people in this country that does not appreciate. In other words it can be said as they would have ti take things or any situation as granted. Also they keep the public from going insane and just doing whatever they want. They keep society intact. Without the government we would be unsafe. We need to rely on them to keep our country with us and no one else will take away our country in within.
4. Although Tim's father was a Loyalist, his life was like he would think that a life without the king would be an unhappy life. He thought that without the king there would be a lot of things wrong with the new world. He did not think that if Sam became a patriot it was a major effect to his father. This statement by Jefferson would not sit well with Life. This was how Tim's father was in his life and like he will always be the same situation.Like father like son.

2.Thomas Jefferson was concerned about the government because things were probably bad and because he was a true patriot he probably cared a lot. So we don't repeat the bad things from our past.
3.Me personally wouldn't want the government to take care of me because if we fight for our independence for so long why would you want the government to have it now? Plus the would control a lot of things and I wouldn't like that because I am very independent.
4.Tim wouldn't care that much about the present. It seems like he really cares about the time now! He worries about other things like himself, Sam and family. He lives in the moment that he is in like doesn't think about anything to come later. He is looking to stressed already to worry enough about it so good thing he isan't worrying about the future there is to much going on.

ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson knew that there would be a future happiness for American's. He knew that if we didn't let the government waste our labors, then we could be happy. With all the hard labor that the government puts us through, we all could be happy. But, without the labors we do, we wouldn't earn money and be able to support our family like we already do. Some people have many jobs to support their family. Thomas jefferson knew that if we had all the governments labors of taxes and jobs, we wouldn't be happy, but mad all the time. If we didn't have all these things to worry about, and we could raise life on a farm like they did back in the 1700's, people would be happy.
3. I would definitely not want the government to take care of me. Being very independent, nobody else needs to help me produce for my family. I would raise life on a farm if I'd have to. Taking money from the government wouldn't be something to do because all the money they have, is from innocent American's paying a fortune in taxes. You shouldn't take hard working American's taxing money.
4. Being a supporter or Britain,Tim's father, life, wouldn't like this quote. He thinks that we should have faith in the government, and in the homeland, with the king. Separating from the is unheard of in Britain. Unless you came over to America when you had a chance to, to be free, you are stuck in Great Britain with the king telling you what to do, what jobs to work and what to eat sometimes. In America, you are free and you have the choice to do what you want. Sometimes, the government can be holding us back though. With all the taxes and the jobs they give us, we don't have much left to support our families. I think that Life should like this quote, to be free, and for his future generation to be happy, but he probably would because it came from an American patriot.

ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson is concerned about american's future happiness, because if they are unhappy it means he did something wrong while making our country a better place. He wants people to be happy and safe. He wants every one to have a happy life by caring for each other and being kind to one another.
3. I want the government to take care of me. Even though they may take away certain rights and privileges. Many people would feel safer because they would be their to protect us. A nation needs a good government in order to be successful and strong. As long as they don't take away many privileges, I would like to have a government.
4. Tim's father, Life wouldn't like this quote..."I predict future happiness for Americans, if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.” -Thomas Jefferson 1782. ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson would be concerned about the happiness of future Americans because if they were unhappy, they may rebel against their own government. If they are unhappy, they won't be proud of their country. If someone tried to invade them, they wouldn't have the motivation in them to fight for their country, and everything Thomas Jefferson and the rest of the colonies worked for would be gone.
3. No, I don't want the government to take care of me. I think it's unfair how the government takes care of some people but not others, and I think my life would be happier if I worked for everything I had in life. I would feel more accomplished and would be more humble. I like working towards things, and I feel really proud when I get what I worked really hard for, so I wouldn't like for everything given to me.
4.Tim's father Life wouldn't really like this quote, because he really doesn't want the new country. He wants to stay under the British crown, so he probably doesn't trust Thomas Jefferson and his words. Thomas Jefferson is a Patriot, so Life wouldn't listen to the words of a Patriot. He didn't even listen to the words of his Patriot son. He is such a loyalist that he picked a man up and threw him out of the bar for insulting the king.

He doesn't want the future Americans to have the problems they had to create this country. If we don't fight over independence, we will be better off as a country. 3. The government should take care of me for the money and economy issues. The government should give us money that would help continue our daily lives. My dad always tells me if we were like we were 50 years ago, the country would blossom.

ReplyDelete2. Thomas jefferson is concerned about the future because he wants the people of the future to do great things. In order to do that they have to have to be given breathing room from the government. If the government was that hard back then imagine it know.
3.The government would never take care of me. The only time I'd let them take care of me unless it was the army. Trust the army they don't lie about anything. I wouldn't let the government take care of me because the government in a way is like a robot that runs everything. living like a robot is not the way I'm gonna live.
4. Father would think of the quote. Knowing that he is a loyalist he probably would laugh at it. The government is what keeps them alive but at the time it wasn't much help anyways. So father might not like it knowing he likes the king. The government isn't all like king and father could just not care at all what other people think. Personally my thought about it is a quote that is correct and extremely true.

ReplyDelete2. Tomas Jefferson would be concerned about are happiness because he cares about the countries people. He wants everyone who lives in America to be happy. He loves his country and everyone in it. He does not just care about himself he cares about every one. He does not want what he built up to be this country to fall apart. He wants it to be happy forever.
3. The government should not take care of its citizens, for the most part. If the government does a lot of stuff for us then we will give them more and more power and we do not want to be helpless. It is our lives and our responsibility. If they take over are life we will be powerless. I want them to protect us and don't let people attack us. I just don't want them to do everything.
4.Tim's father Life would not like it at all. First because he is a loyalist and would not even want to have the government be patriots. He thinks that he can do things on his own to. 4. Tim's father would hear this quote and maybe second guess what he wants to be. He is a loyalist and he believes that the people should follow the king but hearing this could change a persons mind. This quote tells that Thomas Jefferson wants future Americans to be happy and if Life thought about his great great grandchildren he would want them to be happy. He would want the government to take care of them and treat them right! Life would want them to have all the freedom and rights that they deserve! If Life heard this quote he would think of America and the patriots in a better way.

2. My opinion about Thomas Jefferson's concern for Americans happiness is the government. I chose this because its similar to the problems with our government today. He said this with a passion and I think he really cares about the future of our beloved country.
3. The government to take care of me because they could help my family take care of some financial issues. We would try to help out the economy we live in today. Thinking about lowering some high prices for food, medicine, and housing.
4. Tim's father Life would think this quote would have a positive saying on what might happen to him in the future. Even thought Jefferson was a patriot I don't see why Life would not enjoy this. He might give this quote to his son and have him pass it down in the family. So that whoever hears this quote in the future will definitely understand what is happening to us now.

ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson would be concerned about the future happiness of Americans because of all the work he did for them. Thomas Jefferson and the other founding fathers had to make many sacrifices in order to free our country from tyranny. Around the time of this quote the Articles of Confederation were starting to come into play, and the basic form of government were being set up. Jefferson didn't want to have wasted everyone's time and lives just to have everyone become unhappy once again.
3. Yes I want the government to take care of me. If It weren't for the people the government wouldn't exist. We americans pay taxes, serve in the army, and fill up the economy, we should be getting something in return. Also, America is like a family, more than two hundred years ago, the colonies had to join together to fight Britain, even though we aren't battling for independence anymore we should still be sticking together.
4. Life would like this quote. The only reason he was a Loyalist was for the protection from Britain. If Life knew that the Patriots were planning to take care of the states I'm sure he would want that as well. The only part Life wouldn't care for would the part about the government taking care of us being a lie, he would probably worry that this would actually come true.

2. Thomas Jefferson would want me, an American, to be happy because he wants everyone to be happy. Every mother, child, teen, dad, everyone! He wants us to be pleased with the Liberty that they worked so hard for them and us to have. Jefferson is worrying that Americans will not be satisfied in the future (or now, present day) with the Liberty and Freedoms that America has.
3. The government should support me only when the need is very great. Other people need the support that the government can offer greatly. If money was given to every homeless person and they actually bought some food or clothes or rent on a house or apartment instead of continuing to beg for money on the streets, the world would be a happier, better place. There are many out there who need what the government has to offer. Some feel outcast and do something when they are lacking in money, but others choose to stay out there and allow the government to pay for what they need. If people did not do that, but instead took responsibility and fixed their problems, then maybe someday the government will not have to support anybody at all.
4. Life would probably not know what to think about the quote at this point. He would probably be confused because America does not have a government right now. When Jefferson talks about "predicting future happiness", he would probably assume that Mr. Jefferson was saying that the people would eventually give up on the whole 'Independence' idea. He is a Loyalist, and he doesn't agree with the idea that America should be their own free country. Life would probably assume that when Jefferson was talking about the government, he meant the King and Parliament. How could Life predict that in the next few years America would win its independence and form its own central government?

He wants the Americans here to be safe and happy and live happy. If Thomas Jefferson heard from the people around that the government would be in trouble because Thomas Jefferson is big part of the Government. The Americans have to have Liberty and Freedom to live their lives Happily. (3 - 5 sentences)
3. No, I would not want the Government to take care of me. I can take care of myself. If the government would take care of me, they could take away some of the rights that I have and never get them back. The government could support me and help me with things that I would need help on. If the government would have taken care of me I would feel like I was on a leash, I couldn't go anywhere that I wanted, Couldn't do anything that I please. The freedom we have now, we can do anything that we want.
4. Tim's Father wouldn't like this quote very much because he's a loyalist. He's probably thinking that why are we worrying about the future when it hasn't happened yet, we should be worrying what's happening right now in life. Life could take care of his self instead of the government he's a strong man. Life wanted to get ruled by the kings not a government where they tell you what to do and what you can do. Like in the book he's nice and kind of a tough person but he doesn't really care about peoples happiness so theres another reason why he wouldn't like this quote. Thats how Tim's Father was in life back then.

3. The government should take care of us to a point. say if the homeless have no money they should have a food depot to give food to them so they have a 2nd or 3rd chance. if they can't do that they should do committee service to make money.
4. He would agree with it because he is a do right first kind of guy. Sense we won he would have ether moved back to England of gave his loyalties to the United States of America. Another thing is that he might of thought that the world wouldn't be still around in the future. Also he thought that people would of started breaking the laws because they didn't like them maybe. That is what Tomas Jefferson might have been thinking about the future happiness.

ReplyDelete2. Thomas Jefferson does care about the future of America since he does not want all that they have fought for all these years to vanish into thin air. It is a known fact that many Americans died for the sake of our freedom in the future. America was made upon this fact and built on the constitution, which clearly states that the people control the government. If this became a monarchy or something where only one or a few of those people control the government, wouldn't that mean we are defeating the very purpose we started the Revolutionary War? He doesn't want us to lose our liberty or freedom, to remain true to our country's very roots, and the words We the people.
3. The government should help the people, but not take care of everything. It would be very helpful if the government would help with things like some of the issues we are facing today, like the problems with the economy. Health issues should be helped out by the government partially since that has to do with life. We shouldn't be making them do everything for us. We should have them do their job as the constitution states it and keep this country free.
4. Father from the book My Brother Sam Is Dead by the Collier brothers would like the fact that in this quote, Thomas Jefferson states that the labors of the people should not be wasted. It also seems he would like the fact that the war would be over by then, in the book he gave me the impression that he hated war and thats the main reason he was a loyalist in the story. He lost a lot in the war, so that could explain why he would hope to have the new government take care of the people. Plus, if the government takes care of the people, we are less likely to be in a war with ourselves. If we declared war on our government at this point, another nation might take control of our country, then we would be back at where we were before the war began!!!! Then what would we do? Father would want us to have this future so this would not happen. Father would want us to be peaceful and tranquil.
